Caboolture removalists, up the highway

Caboolture sits on the northern bank of the Caboolture River and is described as the northernmost urban area of greater Brisbane. Its name comes from the Yugarabul word Kabultur, meaning "place of the carpet snake". The railway arrived in 1888, and today Caboolture station is the end of the Caboolture line and a stop on the North Coast line.

Morayfield, 2.3 kilometres to the south, has its own station on the same line and Morayfield Shopping Centre, opened in 1997. Together they were home to more than 54,000 people at the 2021 Census: 29,534 in Caboolture and 24,898 in Morayfield.

Most homes here are houses. Separate houses made up 77.3 per cent of occupied homes in Caboolture and 81.7 per cent in Morayfield in 2021, with an average of 3.3 and 3.5 bedrooms. A three- or four-bedroom house with a garage, a shed and an outdoor setting is a full load, so the quote starts with everything that's moving:

• Every room, plus the garage and shed. Tools, bikes, gym equipment and garden furniture add volume quickly. List them so the truck is sized for the whole job the first time.
• Heavy items. Fridges, washing machines and anything over 90 kg are $48 including GST each, and heavy pieces are assessed before the day.
• Bigger homes. Additional movers and larger trucks are available, with charges confirmed before booking.

Townhouses are common here too: 19.7 per cent of Caboolture homes and 16.8 per cent of Morayfield homes were semi-detached, terraces or townhouses in 2021. Many sit in complexes with body corporate rules about move times, visitor parking and where a truck can stand. Check them before you choose a date, and tell us about internal driveways and stairs. Stairs are $48 including GST per flight of 10 steps where they apply.

More than four in ten homes in both suburbs were rented in 2021, so plenty of moves here run to a lease end. Book as soon as your date is set, because end-of-month and weekend dates are subject to availability. In Queensland, the exit condition report is compared with the entry condition report, so photograph each room once it's empty and clean. Caboolture and Morayfield sit on the Bruce Highway. Exit 152A leads to Caboolture and Bribie Island, and Exit 152B to the D'Aguilar Highway towards Kilcoy. Most moves to or from Brisbane use the highway, and moves to Bribie Island continue along Caboolture–Bribie Island Road.

Distance matters on any hourly move, so we're upfront about it. Travel is charged either depot-to-depot from our Slacks Creek depot or as a call-out fee, depending on the job and location, and your quote states which applies. Additional travel charges may apply for outer areas, and they are confirmed before booking, not after.

City of Moreton Bay rules shape where a removal truck can stand:

• Vehicles can't park on footpaths, nature strips or road reserves, or across a driveway.
• Heavy vehicles can't stop in a built-up area for more than an hour unless they are picking up or dropping off goods the whole time.

In practice, that means the driveway is the best spot. Move cars, trailers and bins off it the night before, and ask neighbours for street space if the driveway is short or steep. If the truck can't use the driveway, the truck-inaccessible driveway charge of $48 including GST is confirmed before you book.

• $125 to $169 per hour + GST for a moving truck and two professional movers, depending on the type of move and truck size, with blankets, pads, dollies, straps and wrap included.
• $48 including GST each, where they apply: appliances, items over 90 kg, stairs per flight, an extra pick-up or drop-off, an extra trip, a truck-inaccessible driveway and hoisting.
• Travel: depot-to-depot or a call-out fee, confirmed before booking. Parking and permit costs are passed on.
