Removalists for every kind of Clayfield home
Clayfield is about 7.4 kilometres by road from the Brisbane CBD, on the north side between Albion, Ascot, Hendra, Nundah and Wooloowin. Sandgate Road runs through it, and Clayfield and Eagle Junction railway stations serve the suburb.
Its homes are a genuine mix. In 2021, flats and apartments made up 51.3 per cent of occupied private dwellings, separate houses 37.8 per cent and townhouses or terraces 10.6 per cent. Nearly half of all homes had two bedrooms, yet almost a quarter had four or more.
So one Clayfield move might be a two-bedroom flat up a flight of stairs, and the next a five-bedroom family home with a garage and a study. We quote from the property, not the postcode. The rate is simple: $125 to $169 an hour + GST for a moving truck and two professional movers, with blankets, pads and straps included.
Federation, bungalow and interwar houses
Between 1885 and 1920, estates such as Sefton, Noble and Isleton were subdivided into hundreds of Clayfield allotments, and the houses that followed span several eras. The suburb's heritage listings include Federation Queenslanders on Norman Parade, California bungalows on Enderley Road, and Interwar Functionalist and Mediterranean houses on Jolly Street.
Construction varies as much as style. Brisbane City Council's heritage record for 30 Jolly Street describes a 1938 architect-designed house with rendered masonry walls and a terracotta tile roof. A timber Queenslander moves very differently.
- Timber homes. Expect front stairs, verandahs and doorways sized for another era. We plan the route before lifting and dismantle large pieces where that's safer.
- Masonry homes. Rendered walls don't forgive a knock. Furniture is fully wrapped in quilted blankets and pads, and tight turns are taken slowly.
- Stairs, wherever they are. Where a stair charge applies, it's $48 including GST per flight, confirmed before you book.

1930s flats along the old tram route
Electric trams ran along Sandgate Road until 13 April 1969, and they left their mark on Clayfield's housing. Council's heritage record for Coraki Court, at 464 Sandgate Road, describes a block of twelve flats completed in 1938. It calls the block part of a 1930s pattern of purpose-built flats along the tram route in the Albion and Clayfield area.
Older blocks are often walk-ups, and those on Sandgate Road front a main road:
- Ask about rear access. If there's a driveway or lane behind the block, the truck may load more safely there than at the front kerb.
- Check the kerb. If parking out the front is restricted, find out what loading options apply and arrange any permit before the day. Costs are passed on.
- Count the flights. Two flights at each end of a move add up, so give us the exact number.
- Measure the stairwell. The narrowest landing decides whether the fridge, sofa and bed base go through whole or in pieces.
Our apartment and unit removals suit a walk-up as well as a lift building.
Large family homes, room by room
Almost a quarter of Clayfield homes have four or more bedrooms. Moves that size are planned around volume and order, not distance.
- List every room. Include the study, the rumpus room, the garage and the space under the house. A room-by-room list sets the truck and crew size.
- Ask for more hands. Our standard crew is two to three movers. Additional movers and larger trucks are available, with the charges confirmed before booking.
- Pack ahead. Our packing service can pack the kitchen, the glassware and other fragile items before moving day, so the day itself is about loading.
- Unpack in order. Tell us which rooms you need first. Our unpacking service places cartons, reassembles beds and takes the used packing away.
- Flag the heavy and the precious. Items over 90 kg are $48 including GST each, and piano relocation is $149 including GST, subject to an access assessment.

Schools, stations and leafy streets
Clayfield College, St Rita's College, Eagle Junction State School and St Agatha's Primary School are all in the suburb, and Sandgate Road is a main route north. Alexandra Road runs under a canopy of poinciana and oak trees.
- Mind the school run. If you live near a school, a start after morning drop-off keeps the truck out of the queue at the busiest time.
- Look up. Under a full canopy, tell us if low branches hang over the spot where the truck will park.
- Book holiday dates early. If you're planning to move in the school holidays, request a quote early. Weekend and public holiday dates are subject to availability.
Moving to or from Clayfield
- Next door. Moves to Ascot, Hendra or Wooloowin are short, but house-to-house moves still mean stairs and access at both ends.
- Into the city. A move to an inner-city apartment is mostly about the building at the other end: lifts, docks and booked times.
- Across Queensland. For moves further afield, see our long-distance removals.
- The Gold Coast and interstate. We move between Brisbane and the Gold Coast in both directions and offer interstate removals.
Travel is charged depot-to-depot or as a call-out fee and confirmed before you book.
