Grange removalists for family homes
Grange sits about 5 kilometres north of the Brisbane CBD, on the southern side of Kedron Brook. Suburban development began in 1903, when T. K. Peate's property was subdivided as the Grange Estate, and a shopping centre grew around the Days Road tram terminus after 1928.
Today it is overwhelmingly a suburb of houses. In the 2021 Census, separate houses made up 82.1 per cent of Grange's occupied private dwellings. Nearly half, 47.7 per cent, had four or more bedrooms, against 38.8 per cent across Queensland, and 78.6 per cent of homes were family households.
That shapes the job. A Grange move is usually a full family home: bedrooms, a garage, outdoor furniture and everything a household gathers over time. We plan the volume first, so the right truck and crew arrive, then the access at both ends. The rate is $125 to $169 an hour + GST for a moving truck and two professional movers, and larger crews are available.

Grange Heights, The Pinnacle and the brook
Grange isn't uniform underfoot. In the west, a hill called The Pinnacle rises to 57 metres above sea level, and the elevated western part of the suburb is known as Grange Heights. To the north, the land runs down to Kedron Brook and its linear parks, including Grange Forest Park.
Block sizes vary too. The original Grange Estate was sold as 16-perch house lots, roughly 400 square metres each. On a compact block, the side path may be the only way to the back yard. On the Heights, the driveway may be steep.
- Measure the side path and gate if outdoor settings, bikes or garden pieces have to come from the back.
- Tell us about the driveway. If the truck can't use it, the truck-inaccessible driveway charge is $48 including GST, confirmed before you book.
- Count the stairs. Where a stair charge applies, it is $48 including GST per flight.
Working around the school run
Despite its name, Wilston State School is in Grange, on Primrose Street. In 2018 it had 887 students. Most school zones in South East Queensland operate from 7–9am and 2–4pm on school days, and drop-off and pick-up bring cars and children onto the surrounding streets.
- Time the arrival. If you live near Primrose Street or Wilston Road, a truck that arrives after 9am misses the morning rush, and loading can be planned so the truck isn't leaving at 3pm.
- Consider the school holidays. A move during the holidays takes school-zone traffic out of the picture entirely.
- Weekend sport. Lanham Park, home of Grange Thistle Football Club and the Grange Bowls Club, sits in the middle of the suburb. If you live nearby, check the weekend fixtures before you choose a Saturday.
Packing a big household in stages
A four-bedroom home takes longer to pack than most people expect. Packing in stages keeps the house liveable until moving day. Our packing service can do all of it, or only the parts you'd rather hand over.
- Stage one: the rarely used. Spare rooms, books, out-of-season clothes, garage shelves and the linen press.
- Stage two: fragile and high-care. Glassware, artwork, mirrors and anything sentimental, packed by our team with bubble wrap and dish paper on request at no extra charge.
- Stage three: the essentials. Kitchen basics, children's rooms and bedding, packed last and unpacked first.
- Clear out before you pack. Old furniture, mattresses and clutter can go with our junk removal service. Disposal is charged by weight and type, from a minimum of $95 including GST, and recyclables go to recycling where practical.

Older timber homes and heavy furniture
Grange has its share of older houses. Council's heritage register records 79 Primrose Street, on the corner of Wilston Road, as a large timber residence with a corrugated iron roof, built around 1899 on land that was once part of the Wilston House estate. Older timber homes bring front stairs, timber floors and doorframes worth protecting.
- Floors and doorways protected. Furniture is wrapped in quilted blankets and moved on dollies and trolleys, never dragged.
- Heavy pieces assessed. Items over 90 kg, such as a solid sideboard or a home gym, are $48 including GST each. Hoisting, where it is the safest route, is $48 per item.
- Pianos. Piano relocation is $149 including GST on top of the hourly rate, subject to an access assessment.
- Appliances. Fridges, washing machines and dryers are $48 including GST per item. Have them disconnected first, as plumbing and electrical work needs a licensed trade.
Moving to or from Grange
- Around the corner. Wilston shares Grange's 4051 postcode, and Kalinga and Wooloowin are a short drive east. Short moves are still charged by the hour, so access at both ends matters more than the distance.
- South to the city and the coast. The CBD is about 5 kilometres south. The Clem7 tunnel connects with Lutwyche Road and the Inner City Bypass at its northern end and with the Pacific Motorway at its southern end, a direct link towards the Gold Coast. We move between Brisbane and the Gold Coast in both directions.
- Interstate. For moves beyond Queensland, see our interstate removals.
At the new home, our unpacking and setup team can unpack kitchens and bedrooms first, reassemble beds and take the empty cartons away.

What a Grange move costs
Bigger homes take more hours, so preparation is where the savings are. A complete inventory, staged packing and a clear-out beforehand all shorten the day.
- $125 to $169 per hour + GST for a moving truck and two professional movers. Additional movers and larger trucks are available, with charges confirmed before booking.
- Included at no extra charge: quilted blankets, furniture pads, dollies, hand trolleys, ratchet straps, stretch wrap and basic dismantling and reassembly.
- $48 incl. GST each, where they apply: appliances, items over 90 kg, stair flights, a truck-inaccessible driveway, hoisting, an extra pick-up or drop-off, or an extra trip.
- Travel: depot-to-depot or a call-out fee, confirmed before you book.
A deposit secures your date, and we ask for 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. See our pricing page, then request a quote with a room-by-room list, including the garage and yard. Our team aims to call new enquiries back within five minutes during business hours.
