Removalists for Indooroopilly's houses and apartments
Indooroopilly sits 7.8 kilometres south-west of the Brisbane CBD, with the Brisbane River along its southern edge, and it houses people in two very different ways. At the 2021 Census, separate houses made up 46.7 per cent of its occupied private dwellings and flats or apartments 45.4 per cent. Across Queensland, apartments were just 12.5 per cent. Townhouses and semi-detached homes made up most of the rest.
That split shapes every quote. A two-bedroom apartment near the shopping centre and a four-bedroom house off Moggill Road can hold a similar amount of furniture and still be completely different jobs. One depends on a lift booking and a loading bay. The other depends on front stairs, a verandah and the walk to the truck. Two-bedroom homes were the most common size in 2021, at 35.3 per cent, but 29.7 per cent of homes had four or more bedrooms.
So we start with the building, then the inventory. The rate is simple: $125 to $169 an hour + GST for a moving truck and two professional movers, with blankets, pads, dollies, straps and wrap included.
Apartment and townhouse moves near the centre
Indooroopilly Shopping Centre opened in 1970 and is the largest shopping centre in Brisbane's western suburbs. Indooroopilly railway station, on the Ipswich line, is close by, and Moggill Road is the main road through the suburb. Apartment and townhouse moves here happen in a busy setting, so the details are worth settling well before the day.
- Lift and loading bay. Book the lift, any loading area and the permitted move time with building management. Ask whether lift padding is required.
- Truck position. Basement car parks and visitor bays rarely fit a removalist truck. Tell us where the truck can stand and how far that is from the lift.
- Walk-ups and townhouses. Count the flights at each end. Where a stair charge applies, it is $48 including GST per flight, confirmed when you book.
- Shared driveways. In a townhouse complex, check whether the truck can use the common driveway and where it can park without blocking neighbours.
Our apartment removals follow your building's rules, from a studio to a three-bedroom unit. Customers arrange the lift booking, loading zone and any permits, and we plan the crew and the load around them. Relocating a shopfront, practice or office nearby? Our office removals can run after hours or on weekends, subject to availability.

Highset homes and older houses
Indooroopilly was a residential suburb long before its apartments arrived. Council's heritage register lists 70 Clarence Road, built around 1892 and once called Ardtarig, as a high-set house with encircling verandas and a large pyramidal iron roof. It shows a layout that plenty of older local homes share: stairs up from the yard, a verandah to cross, and doorways that were never planned around a modern sofa.
- Route checked first. We look at the stairs, the verandah turn and the narrowest doorway before anything is lifted.
- Dismantling where it helps. Beds, dining tables and modular pieces come apart when that is the safer way out, and go back together at the new home. Basic dismantling and reassembly are included.
- Weight assessed. Items over 90 kg, such as a stone-topped table or a safe, carry a $48 (incl. GST) charge each, and we plan the carry before the day. See our heavy item moves.
Newer houses bring their own questions, such as a garage full of stored cartons or an upstairs living area. Tell us what is there, and our house moving crew will plan for it.
Crossing the river at Walter Taylor Bridge
Four bridges link Indooroopilly with Chelmer across the river, but only one carries cars and trucks: the Walter Taylor Bridge. It opened in 1936 as a toll bridge, is listed on the Queensland Heritage Register, and is unusual among Brisbane bridges because its two towers contain homes. The Jack Pesch Bridge beside it is for pedestrians and cyclists, and the other two carry trains.
For a move between Indooroopilly and Chelmer or Graceville, the bridge is the short way across. It also dates from 1936 and needs ongoing maintenance. In 2026, Brisbane City Council closed it to all vehicles for a series of weekend and Saturday-night closures during renewal works.
- Check Council's notices before you lock in a date if your move crosses the river here.
- Know the alternative. If the bridge is closed, the truck takes a longer route, such as the Centenary Bridge at Jindalee. On an hourly move, that extra drive is part of the time.
- Give us both addresses early, so we can plan the crossing as well as the load.

Settlement days, lease ends and key handovers
Indooroopilly has a large rental market. At the 2021 Census, 44.3 per cent of occupied homes were rented, against 33.1 per cent across Queensland. Owners and renters alike usually move against a fixed time: a settlement, a key release or the last day of a lease.
- Separate the deadline from the preference. Tell us when keys are released at the new home, and when you must hand keys back at the old one.
- Plan for a gap. If settlement runs late, the truck may need to wait. Waiting time is chargeable, so we would rather plan the day around realistic times.
- Leave the rental ready to inspect. Queensland's Residential Tenancies Authority says tenants should remove their belongings and clean before completing the Exit condition report (Form 14a), which is compared with the entry report when the bond is decided. Unwanted furniture can go with our junk removal service.
- Set up the first rooms first. Our unpacking service can make up beds and sort the kitchen before anything else.

- $48 incl. GST each, where they apply: stairs per flight, appliances, items over 90 kg, an extra pick-up or drop-off, an extra trip, a truck-inaccessible driveway and hoisting.
