Brisbane to Gold Coast removalists, start to finish
A move between Brisbane and the Gold Coast is neither a local job nor an interstate one. It has two sets of access rules, a motorway in the middle and one hourly rate across the lot. We plan it as a single job: the same truck and crew load at your Brisbane address, drive the M1 and unload at the other end. For a Gold Coast to Brisbane move, we do the same thing in reverse.
We're based in Slacks Creek, and the City of Logan sits between the City of Brisbane and the City of Gold Coast. This corridor is the middle of our service area, not the edge of it.
Every route move includes:
- A moving truck and two professional movers at $125 to $169 an hour + GST, with extra movers or a larger truck when the job needs them.
- Protective equipment at no extra charge: quilted blankets and furniture pads, flat dollies and hand trolleys, ratchet straps and stretch wrap, with bubble wrap and dish paper on request.
- Basic dismantling and reassembly of beds, tables and other furniture that comes apart.
- Access planned at both ends: stairs, lifts, driveways and where the truck can stand.
Comparing route quotes? Ask each mover how travel is charged and what happens to the clock while the truck waits for a lift. We answer both before you book.

What a Brisbane to Gold Coast move costs
There's no flat route price, because a one-bedroom apartment and a four-bedroom house with front stairs are very different days. What we can show you up front is how every part of the price is worked out.
- $125 to $169 per hour + GST for a moving truck and two professional movers. The rate applies to the time the job takes, including the drive between your two addresses.
- Travel is charged depot-to-depot or as a call-out fee, depending on the job and the locations. We confirm which applies, and any outer-area charge, before you book.
- $48 incl. GST each, where they apply: appliances, items over 90 kg, apartment stairs per flight, an extra pick-up or drop-off, an extra trip, a truck-inaccessible driveway and hoisting.
- Piano relocation: $149 incl. GST on top of the hourly rate, subject to an access assessment. See piano removals.
- Parking and permits are passed on, and waiting time is chargeable.
Two things shape a route quote most: how much you're moving and how easy each end is to work. The drive depends on the motorway on the day, which is why we don't quote a fixed drive time. A deposit secures your date, with the balance due on completion, and we ask for 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. See our pricing page, or request a quote with both addresses and we'll set out the numbers before you commit.
How the day runs: Brisbane, the M1, the Coast
A route move has three parts, and each one gets its own plan.
Loading in Brisbane
The crew walks through with you first, confirms what's going and what's staying, then wraps and loads. Large pieces are dismantled where that's the safer way out of the house. We load so that the things you need first, like beds and a first-night box, come off early at the other end.
The drive
The route depends on where you start. From the CBD, the Pacific Motorway crosses the river on the Captain Cook Bridge and runs south as the M3, becoming the M1 at Eight Mile Plains. From the northside and the airport, the Gateway Motorway (also M1) crosses at the Sir Leo Hielscher Bridges and meets the Pacific Motorway at Eight Mile Plains. From Ipswich and the south-west, the Logan Motorway joins the M1 at Loganholme. From there, the motorway runs past Beenleigh towards Helensvale, Nerang and Mudgeeraba.
Unloading on the Coast
At the new address, furniture goes into the rooms you choose, and anything we took apart is put back together. If you'd like more help, our unpacking service can unpack boxes, set up rooms and take the empty cartons away.
Gold Coast to Brisbane removalists
Heading north is the same job in reverse, with a different set of challenges at the far end. At the 2021 Census, about a quarter of the City of Brisbane's homes were flats or apartments, and many inner suburbs are known for highset Queenslanders, so the far end may be a goods lift or a timber staircase.
- Street loading. Brisbane City Council lets a commercial vehicle use a commercial loading zone for up to 20 minutes without a permit while loading or unloading goods. That rarely covers a full unload, so tell us where the truck can stand and arrange any permit before the day.
- Front stairs. Count the steps to the front door and onto the verandah. Where a stair charge applies, it is $48 including GST per flight.
- CBD and inner-city buildings. The Pacific Motorway reaches the city over the Captain Cook Bridge. For an apartment or office in town, the building's dock and lift booking usually takes more planning than the drive.
- North-eastern suburbs. For homes in Ascot or Hamilton, the usual route uses the Gateway Motorway across the river.

Timing the M1: peaks, roadworks and events
The M1 is the main road link between Brisbane, Logan and the Gold Coast. In 2022, the Queensland Government described the M1 as the state's busiest road, with more than 210,000 vehicles on its busiest days. Infrastructure Australia has identified the lack of road capacity between Brisbane and the Gold Coast as a significant problem for business, tourist and commuter travel.
The corridor is changing, too. The Coomera Connector (M9), a 45-kilometre motorway between Logan and the Gold Coast, is being built in stages. The northern section of its 16-kilometre first stage, between Coomera and Nerang, opened in December 2025, with the rest to follow. New links and roadworks change the drive, so we plan the route for the day rather than from habit.
- Away from the peaks. Where your building windows allow, it's worth planning the drive outside the weekday commuter peaks; we'll talk timing through with you when you book.
- Live checks. QLDTraffic, run by the Department of Transport and Main Roads, reports crashes, closures, roadworks and special events across Queensland. It's worth a look on the morning of your move.
- A margin for fixed windows. When a lift or dock booking starts at a set time, we plan with room to spare.
- Event closures. The Gold Coast 500 Supercars event runs on the streets of Main Beach and Surfers Paradise. Each year the precinct is secured for several days around the event, so check the dates if you're moving to or from Main Beach or Surfers Paradise in October. Moving there around race week? Check access before you lock in a date.
High-rise moves and lift bookings on the Coast
A Brisbane to Gold Coast move often ends in an apartment. At the 2021 Census, flats and apartments made up 21.7 per cent of the Gold Coast's occupied homes, and townhouses and semi-detached homes another 20.6 per cent, against 12.5 and 11.7 per cent across Queensland. On a route move, two buildings may set the timetable.
- You book the lift. Residents arrange lift bookings, loading docks and building access with building management. Book the goods lift at both addresses, and ask about permitted move hours and lift protection.
- Line up the two windows. If your Brisbane lift is booked for the morning, book the Coast lift with room for loading and the drive in between. Waiting time is chargeable, so a window that opens long after the truck arrives adds to your cost.
- Read the by-laws. Body corporate by-laws control how common property is used. If you're renting, the Residential Tenancies Authority says your property manager must give you the relevant by-laws, and that breaching one is a breach of your tenancy agreement.
Walk-up stairs are $48 including GST per flight where they apply. Our apartment removals page covers building moves in more detail.

Office relocations between Brisbane and the Gold Coast
Commercial moves are a priority for us, in either direction along the M1. That might be a team leaving a Brisbane CBD tower for Southport, which holds the Gold Coast's central business district and its largest area of office space, or a business bringing its Coast office back to Brisbane.
- Out of trading hours. After-hours, weekend and public holiday moves are available, subject to availability.
- Two docks, two bookings. Many office buildings control dock and goods-lift times. Book both ends and send us the windows early.
- A floor plan for the new site. Label desks, chairs and cabinets against a plan, and the crew places each piece where it belongs, reassembling what was taken apart.
- Clear limits. IT disconnection and setup, and licensed trade work, sit outside the moving service. Book your IT provider and trades at both ends.
- Stock and equipment. Warehouse stock can move with the office furniture, sequenced so the new site receives it in order. Heavy items are assessed individually.

Settlement, keys and booking your date
On a route move, a late key hurts more than on a local one, because the truck may already be loaded and on the motorway. If you're buying, talk to your conveyancer before you choose moving day. Current REIQ standard contracts let either party extend settlement by up to five business days, with notice given as late as 4pm on the settlement date.
- Buying: ask when to expect the keys, and consider moving the day after settlement if your dates allow.
- Renting: confirm key collection at the new place and the handover time at the old one.
- Changing the date: we ask for 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Later cancellations incur a cancellation fee.
When you're ready, request a quote with both addresses, the stairs or lift at each end, any booked windows and anything heavy or fragile. Our team aims to call new enquiries back within five minutes during business hours, 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday.
Before your Brisbane–Gold Coast move
- Book the goods lift, loading dock and move time with building management at both addresses.
- Leave room between the two windows for loading and the drive down the M1.
- Tell us where the truck can park at each end, and arrange any permits before the day.
- Buying? Check the settlement date and key time with your conveyancer before you book.
- List appliances, pianos, stone tables and anything over 90 kg.
- Label cartons by room, and pack a first-night box to load last and unload first.
- Moving an office? Book your IT provider and any trades for both ends.
- Keep keys, documents, medication and valuables with you rather than on the truck.
