Removalists in Seven Hills, sized for family homes
Seven Hills sits about 7.8 kilometres by road east of the Brisbane GPO, bordered by Camp Hill, Carina, Cannon Hill, Morningside and Norman Park. It has only been a suburb in its own right since 2001, when residents pushed for it to be recognised separately from Norman Park.
By the numbers, it's a family-house suburb. In the 2021 Census, separate houses made up 81.5 per cent of occupied homes, against 74.8 per cent across Queensland, and apartments just 4.6 per cent. Homes averaged 3.5 bedrooms and 2.9 people, compared with 3.2 and 2.5 statewide, and couples with children made up 53.7 per cent of families.
So expect a Seven Hills move to be a whole-house job, with a garage, a garden and a busy household's timetable to work around. A moving truck and two professional movers cost $125 to $169 an hour + GST. Our standard crews run two to three movers, matched to the size of the home and confirmed before you book.
Seven hills, and the streets between them
The name is literal. Six hills named after the seven hills of Rome sit within the suburb: Palatine, Capitoline, Quirinal, Aventine, Caelian and Viminal. The seventh, Esquiline, is just over the line in Camp Hill, and an eighth rise, Lilian Hill, isn't Roman at all. In the 1920s the estate was planned as a garden suburb laid out around the hills, but most houses came after the Second World War, many built by their owners. Roads and drainage followed in the 1960s.
On moving day, the hills decide a lot:
- Where the truck stands. Crests, curves and steep driveways determine the safest spot. Council's rules also prohibit parking across driveways or within 10 metres of an intersection without traffic lights.
- Steep drives. If the truck can't use the driveway, the charge is $48 including GST, and the carry up or down the slope is built into the estimate.
- Split levels and steps. Tell us how many steps there are at the front, back and side, and about any stairs inside. Where a stair charge applies, it is $48 including GST per flight.

Two handovers, one plan
Family moves rarely line up perfectly. Settlement, lease end and key collection can fall on different days, or at different hours of the same day.
- Put both handovers in writing. When can we access the old house, and when do the keys become available at the new one? Separate fixed deadlines from preferred times.
- Plan for a gap. If the dates don't meet, we can take your goods to and from a storage facility you arrange. We provide storage pick-ups and deliveries, not the storage unit itself.
- Waiting time is paid time. Waiting is chargeable, so a realistic key time keeps the cost down.
- Extra stops. A drop at a relative's place or a storage unit is $48 including GST per extra pick-up or drop-off.
Packing a busy household
With school, work and sport still running, packing a family home can take longer than you'd expect. Our packing team can do the whole house, or just the kitchen and the fragile pieces.
- First-night boxes. Set aside medication, documents, chargers, school things and a change of clothes for everyone. Label them and keep them in your car.
- Kids' rooms last out, first in. Pack bedrooms late and unload them early, so beds can be made on the first night.
- Garage and shed. Bikes, tools and outdoor gear add volume. Chemicals, fuel and gas bottles can't travel on the truck, so use them up or dispose of them separately.
- Big furniture placement. List where the beds, sofas, dining table and desks go, so they land in the right rooms before the cartons arrive.

School runs, bushland and the newer homes
Seven Hills State School on D'Arcy Road has served the suburb since 1960. Most Queensland school zones run from 7am to 9am and 2pm to 4pm on school days, so if your move starts or finishes near the school, a mid-morning arrival keeps the truck clear of the busiest windows.
The north-east of the suburb is the 52-hectare Seven Hills Bushland Reserve, set aside as bushland in 1995. If your street ends at the reserve, tell us how much turning space there is for a truck.
Not every Seven Hills home is a house. The former TAFE campus beside the school is now Clearview Urban Village, with townhomes and apartments. Moves there follow body corporate rules, and you book any lift or loading area through building management. Our apartment removals work to those rules.
Moving to or from Seven Hills
- Close by. Moves to Norman Park, Camp Hill or Balmoral are short drives, so access at each end decides most of the time.
- Across the city. We cover all of Brisbane. Our Brisbane southside removalists page lists the suburbs nearby.
- Gold Coast and interstate. We move between Brisbane and the Gold Coast in both directions, plus long-distance and interstate moves.
At the new house, our unpacking service can set up the bedrooms and kitchen first, reassemble the beds and take the empty cartons away. Travel is charged depot-to-depot or as a call-out fee, and confirmed before you book.
