Removalists for Ipswich, from the river to the new estates
Ipswich is old by Queensland standards and still growing. The Borough of Ipswich was proclaimed in 1860, which makes the city the state's second-oldest local government area after Brisbane. It sits on the Bremer River about 40 kilometres south-west of the Brisbane CBD, covers 1,094 square kilometres and had 229,208 residents at the 2021 Census.
The housing is overwhelmingly detached. In 2021, separate houses made up 88.7 per cent of occupied private dwellings, against 74.8 per cent across Queensland, while flats and apartments were just 1.7 per cent. And 39.4 per cent of homes were rented, above the state figure of 33.1 per cent.
Put those together and the typical Ipswich move is a full house, often working to a lease end date. That's how we plan it: a truck and crew sized for a whole home, protective equipment included, and a clear rate of $125 to $169 an hour + GST for a moving truck and two professional movers.
Queenslanders and character homes
Older Ipswich is timber country. Traditional Queenslander-style homes are part of the city's identity, and Ipswich City Council's planning scheme includes Character Areas Housing Zones, among them parts of Rosewood. Council has described pre-1946 houses, such as Carroll House in Goodna, as part of the city's character housing.
These homes are lovely to live in and slower to move out of. Front stairs, verandahs, long hallways and doorways built for smaller furniture all add steps to the job. Here's how we handle them:
- The route comes first. We check the turn from the stairs onto the verandah and through each doorway, and dismantle beds, wardrobes and tables when that's the safer way through.
- Old floors stay protected. Heavy pieces are wrapped in quilted blankets and moved on trolleys or carried, never dragged across timber boards.
- Stairs are priced openly. Where a stair charge applies, it's $48 including GST per flight, confirmed when you book.
- Pianos are assessed. Piano relocation is $149 including GST on top of the hourly rate, subject to an access assessment of the stairs and entry at both homes.
Basic dismantling and reassembly is included with our house moving service, so what comes apart in Ipswich goes back together at the other end.

Springfield, Ripley and the new estates
East and south of the old city, Ipswich is growing quickly. Greater Springfield, a 2,860-hectare master-planned community about 28.6 kilometres south-west of the Brisbane CBD, has its own railway line, a branch of the Ipswich line from Darra, and the Centenary Motorway on its doorstep.
The Ripley Valley Priority Development Area, about five kilometres south-east of the Ipswich CBD, covers 4,680 hectares. Declared in 2010, it could eventually hold 48,750 dwellings and 131,000 people.
Moving into a new estate brings its own checklist:
- Confirm handover before you book. Builder handovers and settlements can shift. We ask for 48 hours' notice to reschedule, so lock the move in once your keys are confirmed.
- Check the street. New estates can have unfinished roads, construction traffic and trades vehicles parked out the front. Tell us if the truck may not get close to the door.
- Townhouse complexes. Ask the body corporate about move times, visitor parking and where a truck can stand.
- Settle in sooner. Our unpacking service places cartons room by room, reassembles basic furniture and takes the empty boxes away.
Ipswich offices, workshops and warehouses
Commercial moves are a priority for us. In Ipswich they range from offices around Ipswich Central, the city's business district on the Bremer, to industrial sites such as Carole Park, which has been used only for industrial purposes since 2010, when its residential side became part of Ellen Grove.
- Scope by area. Workstations, filing, stock, tools and equipment, listed by room or zone, so the truck and crew suit the job rather than a guess.
- Access at both sites. Loading areas, roller doors, stairs and parking. You arrange building access and permits, and we tell you the truck, crew and timing to request.
- Moves that protect trading time. After-hours, weekend and public holiday work is available, subject to availability.
- Heavy items assessed. Safes, workbenches and anything over 90 kg are assessed individually, at $48 including GST per item.
IT disconnection, network setup and licensed trade work aren't included, and we don't move hazardous goods. Read how we plan office removals and warehouse removals.

Rosewood and rural Ipswich
Ipswich's western side is rural. Rosewood, about 20.5 kilometres west of the Ipswich CBD, is a country town with heritage-listed buildings, including its courthouse, and its own railway line. Around it, properties get bigger and the moving day changes shape.
- Driveways and gates. If the truck can't use the driveway, we plan the carry and tell you about the $48 (incl. GST) truck-inaccessible driveway charge before you book.
- Sheds and outbuildings. List what's in each building separately, so nothing is missed and the load is planned in the right order.
- Travel. Additional travel charges may apply for outer areas. They're confirmed with you before booking.
Ipswich to Brisbane, Logan and the Gold Coast
Most Ipswich moves use at least one of these four routes.
- Ipswich Motorway (M7). It runs 21 kilometres from Riverview, where it meets the Warrego and Cunningham highways, through Goodna, Redbank Plains, Darra and Oxley to Rocklea in Brisbane.
- Centenary Motorway (M5). From Springfield it heads north, meeting the Logan Motorway at Forest Lake and the Ipswich Motorway at Darra, then becomes the Western Freeway towards Indooroopilly and Toowong. It suits moves between Springfield and Brisbane's western suburbs.
- Logan Motorway. From Gailes it runs east to the Pacific Motorway at Loganholme, the direct route to Logan and on to the Gold Coast.
- Warrego and Cunningham highways. West to Toowoomba, and south-west through Yamanto to Warwick, for long-distance moves inland.
Travel is charged depot-to-depot or as a call-out fee, depending on the job and location, and we confirm it before you book. For the rest of the city, see our Brisbane removalists page.
