Gold Coast removalists for local and Brisbane moves
The Gold Coast is Australia's sixth-largest city and its most populous non-capital city, stretched along 70 kilometres of coastline about 66 kilometres south-south-east of central Brisbane. It is also a city of very different homes: beachfront towers, canal-front houses, townhouses, family homes and hinterland acreage.
Brisbane Moving Company handles local moves throughout the Gold Coast, and moves between Brisbane and the Gold Coast in both directions. We are based in Slacks Creek, and the City of Logan sits between the City of Brisbane to the north and the City of Gold Coast to the south, so both ends of the M1 are part of our everyday coverage.
The rate is the same wherever you're moving: $125 to $169 an hour + GST for a moving truck, two professional movers and all standard equipment. Additional movers and larger trucks are available when the job needs them. Travel is charged depot-to-depot or as a call-out fee, and any outer-area charges are confirmed before you book.
If you're comparing movers on the Gold Coast, ask each one what the hourly rate includes, how travel is charged and which extras could apply at your addresses. We set out all three before you book, so the price you agree matches the move you have.
High-rise and apartment moves
Apartments matter more on the Gold Coast than in most of Queensland. At the 2021 Census, flats and apartments made up 21.7 per cent of the city's occupied homes, and townhouses or semi-detached homes another 20.6 per cent, against 12.5 and 11.7 per cent statewide. Surfers Paradise is defined by its high-rise apartment buildings, and Southport, home to the Gold Coast's central business district, has more towers completed or planned.
In a tower, the building sets the timetable:
- Book the goods lift and loading dock with building management at both ends, and ask about permitted move times and lift protection.
- Check where the truck loads. Basement car parks are rarely built for removalist trucks, so confirm the loading point and how far it is from the lift.
- Mind the tram line. G:link light rail runs 27 kilometres from Helensvale to Burleigh Heads, much of it alongside the Gold Coast Highway, and its Stage 3 extension through Mermaid Beach and Miami opened on 9 August 2026. If your building fronts the line, ask management where trucks should load.
- Measure the big pieces. Corner sofas, king bed bases and long dining tables don't always fit a passenger lift. Measure them, and we'll dismantle what can come apart safely.
Our apartment removals follow each building's rules. Where a stair charge applies, it is $48 including GST per flight.

Canal homes and waterfront living
The Gold Coast helped invent canal living in Australia. The country's first man-made waterway estates, Miami Keys and Rio Vista, were created at Broadbeach in 1957, and the Isle of Capri became the centrepiece of the Paradise City development. Canal estates went on to shape much of the city. At Hope Island, Sanctuary Cove is a gated community with its own residential bodies corporate.
Waterfront moves have their own checklist:
- Gate and estate access. In a gated estate, arrange contractor access for the truck before moving day, and tell us about any estate rules on move times.
- Outdoor living. Waterfront homes often keep as much furniture outside as in: daybeds, dining settings, planters and heavy outdoor pieces. List them so the load is planned properly.
- Heavy and glass items. Stone tables, large mirrors and glass-topped furniture are wrapped and assessed. Items over 90 kg are $48 including GST each; see heavy and bulky items.
- Barbecues and gas. Gas bottles, fuel and other flammables can't travel on the truck. Disconnect portable bottles before the day, and book a licensed trade for anything plumbed in.
Downsizing from a family home to an apartment? Junk removal clears what won't fit, and our packing team looks after the fragile pieces that will.
Brisbane to the Gold Coast, and back
A Gold Coast move often starts or finishes in Brisbane. The usual route is the Pacific Motorway, signed M3 from the Brisbane CBD to Eight Mile Plains and M1 from there, running past Springwood, Loganholme and Beenleigh before reaching Helensvale, Nerang and Mudgeeraba. Congestion has troubled this corridor for decades, so the timing of the drive matters as much as the distance.
We plan a Brisbane–Gold Coast move as one job with two very different ends:
- Either direction. From a Brisbane house to a coastal apartment, or from a Gold Coast home back to the city, the same hourly rate and inclusions apply.
- Access at both addresses. A Queenslander in Ascot and a tower in Broadbeach have different rules, so we plan stairs, lifts and parking at each end.
- Time windows. If one building only allows moves at set times, tell us early, so the day is planned around it rather than discovered on it.
- Travel, confirmed first. Travel is charged depot-to-depot or as a call-out fee, and we confirm it before you book.
For the Brisbane end, see our Brisbane removalists, Northside and Southside pages. We cover Logan along the way, too.
Heading north brings its own changes. A quarter of the City of Brisbane's homes are flats or apartments, and many inner suburbs have highset Queenslanders with front stairs, so we ask the same access questions at the Brisbane end. Street loading is tighter there too: Brisbane City Council lets a commercial vehicle loading or unloading goods use a commercial loading zone for up to 20 minutes without a permit, which rarely covers a whole move.

Hinterland acreage and the NSW border
Not every Gold Coast move is on the coast. In the hinterland, Currumbin Valley is predominantly rural, and Currumbin Creek Road runs about 20 kilometres west to Springbrook National Park. Acreage moves out here need the same questions we ask everywhere, with more weight on driveways, sheds and loading distance. Travel to outer areas is confirmed before you book.
At the southern end, Coolangatta is a twin town with Tweed Heads across the New South Wales border, which meets the coast at Point Danger. A move across that line crosses a state border, and we handle interstate removals. One practical catch: Queensland doesn't observe daylight saving, while New South Wales does, from the first Sunday in October to the first Sunday in April. During those months, clocks on the NSW side run an hour ahead, so confirm which time your key handover is set in.
Gold Coast offices and businesses
Southport holds the Gold Coast's central business district and the largest area of office space in the city, with Griffith University's Gold Coast campus and the Gold Coast University Hospital on its eastern edge. Commercial moves are a priority for us, on the Gold Coast as much as in Brisbane.
- After-hours, weekend and public holiday moves, subject to availability, so the relocation happens outside trading hours.
- Floor-plan placement of desks, chairs and cabinets, with furniture reassembled where it was taken apart.
- Brisbane–Gold Coast relocations for businesses moving a team in either direction, with travel confirmed before booking.
- Clear limits. IT disconnection and licensed trade work sit outside the moving service, so book your IT provider and trades early.
Warehouses and industrial units are scoped the same way as in Brisbane: stock, equipment and office furniture together, sequenced so the new site can receive everything in order, with heavy items assessed individually. Read more about our office removals and warehouse removals.

What a Gold Coast move costs
We charge by the hour and show the numbers before you book.
- $125 to $169 per hour + GST for a moving truck and two professional movers, with blankets, pads, dollies, trolleys, straps and wrap included.
- $48 incl. GST each, where they apply: appliances, items over 90 kg, stairs per flight, an extra pick-up or drop-off, an extra trip, a truck-inaccessible driveway and hoisting.
- Piano relocation: $149 incl. GST on top of the hourly rate, subject to access. See piano removals.
- Travel: depot-to-depot or a call-out fee, with any outer-area charges confirmed before booking. Parking and permit costs are passed on.
A deposit secures your date, with the balance due on completion, and we ask for 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Full details are on our pricing page. When you're ready, request a quote with both addresses, the lift or stair access at each end and anything heavy or fragile. Our team aims to call new enquiries back within five minutes during business hours, 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday.

- In a gated estate, arrange contractor access for the truck before moving day.
- List outdoor furniture, stone tables, mirrors and anything over 90 kg.
- Disconnect portable gas bottles and set aside fuel and flammables. They can't travel on the truck.
